A sequence of movements of the Capoeira Angola

Some movements

If the capoeirista moves on his hands, with his legs in the air, you say:està plantando bananeira. In this position it is possible to attack downwards using the legs, move in every direction, or return to the normal position.  Au differs from plantar bananeira in that the body turns sideways with a strong impetus, allowing the capoeirista to leap from a distance of several meters. This is a good move especially when facing several adversaries at once.  Au can be used for either attack or defense.

Cabeçada is an attack using the head. It can be directed at various body regions, mostly the chest or face, and often in a downwards direction.  This dangerous attack often follows rapid turning, especially when a player appears to be on the defense.  The cabeçada is very dangerous, as it is used precisely when two are playing very close together.

This attack is often used in jogo de baixo. This movement sequence entails rapid turning of the leg in an attempt to strike the adversary, usually on the head. The offensive player attempts an attack using rabo de arraia, upon which his adversary lowers his head, possibly to ground-level, in order to counterattack with an upwards cabeçada. The rabo de arraia can be used on various bodily regions; this at first glance seemingly simple movement is therefore in reality more complex.  The number of attack varieties in Capoeira Angola may be small, yet each can be varied according to the bodily region to be attacked.
